SensorTech Corporation is an advanced materials company developing and commercializing force and temperature sensitive smart polymers. This advanced material technology provides force and/or temperature change data that makes products and processes more intelligent. Highlighting TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION

CQ Media Networks is a software products development company that specializes in content delivery systems for the education and healthcare market. In February 2011, CQ Media launched KidGopher, an innovative software product for allowing secure child pickup at school using technology such as RFID, Wifi, mobile IP networking and digital signage. The system allows the secure transfer of care from a school to a parent with accuracy, speed and peace of mind.

Teludyne Tech Industries, Inc. is the creator and exclusive manufacturer of the StraightJacket Barrel System. Teludyne has invented a new gas system for the main battle rifle that when incorporated into the Teledyne’s StraightJacket Barrel System, eliminates the stoppages caused by overheating of the rifle. Benefits of the system include improved overall accuracy throughout the full combat load, virtually eliminates heat malfunctions in the battle rifle, and prolongs the life of the barrel up to seven times.

Highlighting INNOVATION IN EDUCATION

Clemson University Department of Mechanical Engineering supports one of the largest undergraduate programs in the State of South Carolina. Starting in the Spring of 2011 semester, the Department introduced a new service learning engineering design project to their curriculum. Students were introduced to engineering design processes, methods and tools and applied these to a project of developing six wind tunnels to be used in 4th grade classrooms at Anderson Midway Elementary. At the conclusion, 4th grade students were instructed on how to use their classroom wind tunnel. The program will continue in coming semesters with new schools as partners.

Clemson University’s International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) is a 250 acre advanced technology research campus where university, industry and government organizations collaborate. In May 2011, CU-ICAR hosted a School Open House for the Southern Automotive Women’s Forum to introduce 58 young women from the Greenville County School Systems in the Upstate to the benefits of a career in the automotive industry. The Women’s Forum’s primary objective is to provide academic scholarships for young women who are interested in the fields of math, science and engineering.

Highlighting SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

Montana Biopolymers Inc. was formed in late 2010 and focuses on production of novel bio-based polymers to replace petrochemical polymers. By producing a polymer made by fermentation of sugar into levan, they have produced an environmentally friendly substitute for toxic insecticides by using adhesive properties. The “Bug Glue” is intended for personal use to remove pests without the toxic insecticides.

Furman University is a private liberal arts university founded in 1826. Furman’s Lake Restoration Project has evolved since 2006 with a steady progress in enhancing the quality of the lake for recreation, inspiration, scientific study and environmental optimization. Within the last 12 months, the unique aggregation of emerging communication technologies such as streaming audio feeds, remote field date collection, augmented reality applications and Quick Response (QR) codes affords many benefits such as research, biological profile, collecting and analyzing data along with other beneficial abilities.

Highlighting SMALL ENTERPRISE

CareCam Innovations was founded by a nurse, neurosurgeon, and health care CEO with the vision of integrated video use to simplify and enhance electronic health records. The process pairs a video documentation device to each patient with key features such as proximity alarms, storage and indexing of patient care categories, and instant recall of queried data.

N3T, Net 3 Technology, is an advanced technology company that focuses on customer service and develops custom support programs along with implementing technology-guided business solutions. SmartPulse is a computerized employee survey system and was formed in April of 2011.
